PotC 4 makes May 2011 a busy month

Just read over on Dark Horizons that Disney has announced PotC 4 will be released in May 2011 with JD returning. However there is currently no scripts or director agreed. SounRAB like that release date is subject to change, then.

2011 is shaping up to be one hell of a summer with the following films scheduled so far:

Captain America
HP and the Deathly Hallows, Part II
Spider Man 4
Cars 2
The Avengers
Batman Begins 3
PotC 4

All these are scheduled for release in the US in a 6 week period between May & June. Add to that the probability of the next Bond film and The Hobbit later in the year. Wow!

I was under the impression no decision had been made on making a third (new) Batman film - let alone any date set. Where did you get that info?

Some of these release dates are rumoured such as Batman and some confirmed like POTC and Harry Potter according to Dark Horizons. As they state that this is the rumoured scedule for summer 2011. If this does turn out to be true then it would be a massive summer of Blockbusters!

3 years is a pretty typical period between films within a franchise so assuming there is another Batman film (no reason to think not) then 2011 is a safe bet. The surprise is how long Spiderman 4 is taking. I'm not a fan of the franchise so don;t know what's caused the delay there.

I wouldn't be surprised to see Superman MOS, Hulk 2 and Star Trek XII at some point in 2011 too.

You would be lucky to see another Superman film in 2011 as the studio are still deceiding what to do with Superman as they have not got a directer or script yet for it!
Hulk 2 or should that be Hulk 3 doesnt look like it will ever happen after The Increadible Hulk made around the same money at the box office as Ang Lee Hulk!
Star Trek is a maybe but we will have to see how the film does next year but I cant see another sequel as early as 2011 though even if it is successful!

That said, it still made a very good profit ($250 million before DVD from a $150 million production budget). Marvel aren't falling over themselves to make a sequel like they are for the money-machine that Iron Man became, but I bet the interest is there already. If Avengers happens, of course, the Hulk property (with Ed Norton) will be keep bubbling along nicely with that.
