Okay, so once upon a very sad time in my life I got a summer job working as a telemarketer, making phone calls for the newspaper (yeah, I was that person that you hated). Anyway, they had me calling different time zones. I was recently off my college schedule, where I wouldn't get out of bed until noon and work all night. And this telemarketing job had me at work at 8 am. The system was on an autodialer, so it would dial the number for me. But sometimes the system would lag and it would be five minutes or more before the call would connect.
Let's see... getting up earlier than usual + extremely boring job + five minutes and up of downtime. What could this equal?
You guessed it. I fell asleep. Very, very asleep. Woke up with my supervisor shaking my shoulder. I looked up at him and said "I'm fired, right?" He nodded.
I wasn't even there 3 weeks.
The kicker is... the paychecks I started getting from them... bounced.
I was hired for my next job less than a week later - doing data entry - at night.
