Post your work fuck ups

Everyone has fucked up at work before, let us know what you did so we can laugh at you. My most recent one happened today. People noticed, but I claimed it was a known bug and was being fixed as I spoke.

When writing ACLs on Cisco routers, don't forget about the implicit 'deny any any' at the end of each ACL!

A couple of years ago I made a cdrom presentation for a wel respected hospital.

There was a movie on it and a presentation and some software people could install. The cdrom was packed in a very nice custom made dvdbox including a very nice manual

So I deliverd the master cdrom to the printing factory, without checking my cdrom..

Anyways, it looked like this:

A pallet of crap
I blamed the printing factory for not checking the cdrom
They said: fuck you

Last year I was helping a friend do some inventory on a stock of fireworks. I needed the extra cash for school. While we were taking a smoke break outside the area, a strong gust of wind blew my cigarette out of my hand. I figured it blew somewhere outside the warehouse, so we went back to work. I was wrong. It blew half of the fire works to hell. Losing $23,419.00 worth of his merchandise. We haven

Since i couldnt smoke on job, i used to pack a dip during work (chewing tobbacco), well since i didnt want my boss to notice me i would always have a small bottle somewheres out of sight, well one day my boss came back, to help unload truck.
Needless to say i had the biggest wad of spit in my mouth and went for my bottle the minute she turned around.before i got to the bottle she had asked me to come help her with moving a pallet.
on my way back i had emptied my mouth of spit in the corner.
well later on she slipped in it and fell.
Needless to say my ass got fired, but it was well worth seeing the brown puddle on her back.

We've all done that one.

One time I was installing and configuring a new DS-3 card on a Cisco 6500 at a T-Mobile sub-station. I was doing it while on a conference call with a guy on the other end of circuit in Washington. It was kind of dark in the relay enclosure, and there were two BNCs that I needed to disconnect in order to connect them to the Y-cable. Well as luck would have it I disconnected two of the wrong (live) DS-3 circuits.
He said, "What did you just do?"; Realizing a split second later what I had done (Just dumped a shit load of cellular calls into oblivion). So I promptly responded with "Huh? what do you mean?" I quickly reconnected it, and changed the subject, announcing that my end of the circuit was now up/down, and I was about to configure the interface and routing. They never said anything about it. Apparently wasn't serious enough to trace the source of the outage.

We just got a new Ryobi 512 about a month ago!

I hate to admit this one (Big time rookie mistake). In printing most presses are configured with a non offset powder unit! What this does is spray a fine burst of micro fine powder on the printed sheet b-fore it is delivered to the the stack thus keeping the ink from offsetting onto the back side of the next sheet! Well one day The powder unit had a blockage and usually with the trained eye you can see a fine cloud of powder in the delivery of the press! I wasn't seeing this and figured that maybe with the press being new that there was no way the unit could have a blockage!!! I was wrong and fucked up about $700 worth of paper! I pulled the large stack of some printed expensive paper out of the press and every sheet was stuck together like a giant $700 white brick!

Oh well! shit happens! Boss was cool about it. Turns out the compressor was the wrong one for this model. It was a 110 and should a been a 120. It was replaced at no charge and problem solved!

Shit, I did dispatching for a tow truck company for a while.

There was always tons of calls coming in, and we only ran two trucks. Sometimes if someone wasn't desparate, just needed to get a tow to a shop from their house, I could put it off. Maybe get them to leave the keys with the car.

One day, a call from a person who had used us all the time called, and set his call up for anytime within two days. It had to be within two days. This guy was a great customer, we always charged him way too much, and he came crawling back for more abuse. Some weeks, we would only hear from just him. He owned alot of antique cars that were constantly getting work done so some weeks when it was dead, he paid my paycheck. The only problem was he was farrrrr away from town. So it would really screw us if he called when we were busy and couldn't put it off for a while.

Well, homie set up the call, and called within a day to cancel the call, he was going to wait to get the work done. I totally forgot about him cancelling, and on the second day we would have picked him up, (if he hadn't have cancelled his call) we were swamped. I put off some other pretty-important customers to take care of this guy because he was faithful.

So i send my guy off on a call that was going to take way too long. We continued to get more busy, more busy, more busy, and then some more. Then I realize that he cancelled.......FUCK! Then my driver sent me a message over the satelite system we use, saying there is no car, there is no dude, and there definitely is no keys. Then I look at all of my calls, and realize we were fucked.

We lost three customers that brought us alot of cash, two which I got back, one which we had been trying to lose. It took at least 2 weeks to get those customers back that we had wanted pretty bad. I got bitched at for two weeks from my boss, and feared getting fired the entire time. It was great we got them back, but that fucking 2 weeks blew ass, and worried my "family" at the time.

It doesn't sound too big a deal, but when you're raising a kid and have a woman, you feel like you've lost your manhood.

I worked at a park, and was in charge of organizing they co-ed volleyball league (I shouldn't have been in charge, I was at the lowest level of city parks and recreation employees, Rec 1, but somebody else dumped their job on me). I had only been working there for a month and wasn't familiar with procedures, and somebody called in and asked if they could register by phone. I asked my boss and she said yes, and gave me a number. I told the caller the number to call, and went back to work.

Four calls just like it later, I get a call from a city employee. She's irate, and wants to know who was telling callers they could register by phone. She chewed me out so badly, I feared for my job...

Completely dumped a cart of food that was in storage for thanksgiving once... It took a good 12 or so hours to set up... Needless to say that wasn't good... especially since it was the night before thanksgiving...

one sunday, i was working cashier and we were listening to the football game on the radio. my boss asked if warner was playing that day and i told her that warner sucked and didnt deserve to in the first place. the person that she was checking out was an actual family friend of warner's! my bad. somehow, i still didnt get fired!
