Big differences on identical hardware? Top three might be (in order): Froyo's JIT compiler, overclocking, killing off background stuff if it's is badly written and hogs resources.

Big differences across different hardware? Processor speed (i.e. 1.3GHz overclocked versus 512MHz on some older phone), processor type (A8, A4, Snapdragon, Hummingbird, etc), JIT.

I have way to many apps and am really waiting for apps2ext. I know I can pick and choose but I just like the old way better. You've heard, you can't teach an old dog new tricks. Well that's me.

I would like to have 2GB, but I don't. I plan on upgrading my phone around Sept - Nov when the much talked about dual core comes out. I have a full upgrade and was tempted by the Samsung but decided to wait a couple of months and see what's on the horizon.

On similar spec PCs running Linux to latest gen Android phones, the BFC kernels only show a tiny improvement (few percent) in speed in some circumstances. Not a 42x speed increase (40 to 1700).

Unless I misunderstand?

Yeah they were just starting to be rumoured when I got my SGS. I thought about waiting, but how long do you wait? Android and the hardware has improved so much in the last year alone that there's always going to be something very tempting just around the corner.
