Hi there ... my name is Paul ... just joined the boarRAB. I have plenty of anxiety stories to tell and share, but I've been experiencing this one in the last few days and I wanted to get some feedback.
I was laid off from my company after 27 years of employment back in February 2008. I was just this week offered a new full-time position. The past year has been just awful, and about 3 months ago my old friend Chronic Anxiety came back to visit, after an absence of 6 years or so.
In the 2 or 3 days since my new job offer, I've been feeling a range of very intense emotions, as you might imagine. But mixed in with the happiness is some very intense anxiety. Some of it, I'm sure, is normal anxiety about starting a new job (something I have to keep reminding myself), but there seems to be a significant amount of anxiety associated with a kind of disbelief .. that the rug is going to be pulled out from under me .. that this must be some kind of mistake .. that I'll return to the nightmare I had been living.
Any thoughts?
