Hi everybody,
I am 2 weeks post surgery, on l4/5. I had a rod and spacers placed between the vertabrae, and scar tissue cut away to free up compression. Would you believe this was a revision surgery done by another surgion, to correct the problem that the original sergeon caused. oh and another thing, the newdr corrected spinal stenosis, that the original sergeon missed!!!!!!

I know it's only 2 weeks post surgery, but i still ache, and i am very depressed, i have a 3 yr old, and it kills me that i can't do so many with her.
is this normal? Has anybody experienced depression? And how long is the usual recovery, will i ever feel ok, my doctor said i am going to be very happy with the results.
Thanks,
Jodi:wave:

Jodi, you are so fresh out of surgery. It's normal to feel "down" about it. But you need to remeraber that this was MAJOR surgery and it takes time.
Time for you incision to heal.
Time for your nerves to settle down inside
Time for the spine to start to heal.
Time to regain your stamina and strength.
Time for the the pain to abate.

You just need to tough it out. Look at the sunny road ahead of you. The doctor said you would be pleased. Count on that. And count on being able to be a real mommy to your little one again.

But to be able to do that you need to follow his rules until you are released. No sense having to go through this all over again!

Hang in there, you'll get better and happier and healthier down the road. It just takes some time.

Thanks for the reply.
I am just having a hard time dealing with healing again!!!! My husband took off 2 weeks from work to help, but it wasn't enough time, so he is going to need to take off some more time. I hate having to tell my daughter, mommy cant pick you up, i feel like a shut in!! Has anybody ever felt anxiety after their surgery?

We all have. The difference is that you are frustrated because you have a little one to take care of. Is there someone around that you can pay to watch here during the day or half a day so you can get rest and your hubby doesn't miss so much work? Are there any day care ladies in your area that could take her in a pinch? Do you have a church that you could ask for help from? This isn't the time to feel erabarressed...Just getting her out so you can rest will keep her entertained and you healing!

Or are there high school/middle school girls that could come over after school?
