Post operative muscle cramp

I realise that this is probably uncommon so might not get anyone answering,
18 months ago I had my appendix out and an exploratory op to check everything else out as well and have scar about 5 inches long running from just belownavel on right across to hip.

About 8 weeks after the surgery - all had healed fine i found that very specific movement would induce terrible cramp below the scar - you can actually see the muscle for a ball about size of a tennis ball. Thankfully it does not happen often if I remember not to do certain movements. Examples are do not strain to hard during a bowel movement - I mean really strain or that does it or if I am laying down flat don't bend my arms down forward betwen my legs say to scratch back of my thigh etc. for a day afterwards I have to be very careful how I move or it will come back and am left with strange feeling in that side of abdo but usually back to normal in 24 hrs.

Spoke to my GP who said probably damage to the muscle during the op or scar tissue after healing is again affecting muscle and there would be nothing that could be done but she agreed it was not very nice thing to have to put up with.

Just wondered if anyone has had similar problems anywhere after having surgical op??

Yes, I also have muscle spasms/pain off and on. Had arthoscopic gallbladder surgery 1 1/2 years ago and most likely will have this muscle problem for rest of my life according to the surgeon.

Had breast surgery yesterday and used an overhead trapeze bar to help get in and out of bed, strained the problem muscles and now having shooting pains again. Hoping they will settle down.
