I am a 53-yr male and I just had surgery 2-wks ago. The surgery pain is gone, I am getting around very well. However, my leg pain some days is just like before OP days? I am taking Nurotin to help my nerve and it help some what. But,my pain still in place. I am taken 800-Mg Ibou and 5-Mg Valium at night to rest but I wake-up 2-3 AM and I can't get back to sleep. Some nights the pain is back to level 8. Also, I try some Hydrocodene but it does not help much at night.

Looking for feedback to help the pain and to find a good night sleep. Also, how long people experiencing pain after surgery 3,6, or 10 months????:dizzy:

hi ramosans,

I had a ALIF surgery on dec. 16. Not the same surgery as yourself but....after surgery, about a week or so, I started suffering with a serious bad nerve flare up in my right leg. I ended up going to the ER the pain got so severe. The pain med. I came home from my surgery was not helping my leg pain at all. It was severe and agonizing pain. The ER doc told me narcotic pain meRAB. donot help a nerve pain. The only thing narcotic pain med. does is just make you not care that it hurts HA I was put on dialadud and re-admitted into the hospital to get the pain back down and I also had to get some test done to make sure everything was ok. I ended up coming home on oxycontin, oxycdone IR and lyrica and a couple more meRAB. The pain meRAB I came home on is helping my leg pain now although, it is morphine. Maybe your doc could prescribe you something else for your leg pain? Good luck with it....I KNOW all too well about how bad that feels!

Hi,

It is normal for you to have pain with this procedure for six to 12 weeks after the procedure. During the procedure they literally have to pick up the nerve and move it out of the way to do the surgery. Then at the end of surgery, they move the nerve back to its proper place The movement of this nerve alone will cause pain off and on for awhile because the nerve can become bruised during this manipulation. If you reasearch nerve injuries you will see that nerves take a long time to regenerate or recover.

Regardless, if you are suffering be sure to call your doctor and let him know so that he can perscribe one of the nerve medications if he feels they are proper for your case to ease the pain. Normally pain meRAB do not cover nerve pain.

In my opinion there is nothing like nerve pain. It simply HURTS.

Good luck!

Thk you for the INFO, any recommendations how to aid the pain beside taken Pain pills?
You indicated 12-weeks? is that how much it took for you to feel better or free from any leg pain?
