What can you do to stop post nasal drip. My oldest son has been coughing for a week because of it. We have rx cough syrup and singular. The pharmacist suggested taking Zytec or Clariton along with this. This is what I have tried --Cough drops don't work, sprays only for a few minutes rubbing vic on his chest. I even had him eat honey last night. He said never again for that one. He is sleeping basically sitting up we are all loosing sleep with this one. Just tired and frustrated with this cold/allergies/sinus ahhhh
thanks

Thtet pharmacist was telling you what you needed to do. You need to give your son something that is going to dry up the drainage. Although honey is interesting I doubt that it would do any good except make him gag...;)

try a good antihistamine. Benadryl, claritin, zyrtec, CTM, any of these that are antihistamines will dry him up and get rid of the drainage. Cough drops won't cut drainage. Benadryl is good, but will only work for 4 hours. Personally I would give him a long acting one so he-and you-can get some good sleep. Try the claritin-which now is sold OTC and even comes in generic as does several other good antihistamines.

good luck. The pharmacist was giving you good advice....
