Possibly moving soon, how do I move my fish with me?

I will possibly be moving at the beginning of the year to a nearby state. It is about 5-6 hours away. I don't want to get rid of my fish. Especially my goldfish that I have had for 5 years. Is there a safe way to transport my babies safely?
 
Just empty your tank down to the gravel leave just enough water in their to keep the gravel wet so the good bacteria lives thru the trip. Then put the fish in a big bin or cooler of some sort with fresh clean water and an air stone if you have one( u will of course need a car outlet adaptor to plug in the pump0. Then you simply move the fish that way. You could just put them in pales and hope for the best, that short of a trip shouldn't kill them from lack of Oxygen as long as theirs holes in the hood for air. Good Luck
 
you best bet is to purchase rubbermaid bins and fill them with the water from your established tank. Cut holes in the lid to provide oxygen. Don't keep any water in your tank while moving it and try your best to be as gentle with it as possible during the move as any stress could cause cracks. You may lose a few fish due to stress of the move and swooshing water. Make sure you keep at least 50% of the cycled water so that you have the quickest possible set up when you move in.
 
When I moved 4 hours away i just emptied the tank to the lowest they could swim in right before they were packed and kept the water in a home depot 10 gal bucket ad filled it back up when we got there. They were the last thing packed and the first thing unpacked.
