As Far as i know bluetooth is the technology that is using the IR port to send and recieve data from phon2phone without any additional help, correct me if I am wrong

Nokia phone only can send business card( the contact list ), and reminders, notes.. i think that's it. U can't send Logos, Ringtones to another nokia phone. But it is possible if using PC with IR. Sony ercisson is different, such as T610. They open the code to let 610 send pictures, tones, notes, contact to another Sony ericsson phones only. None of the phone can send sms using ir from one phone to another phone. Tele Company wana earn money...

i tried sending from my t610 to a 6600 and it didnt work, so that's my experiance with the whole IR thing. maybe it's brand specific or something?

You are wrong so I will explain.

Bluetooth has nothing common team-mate with IrDA. This is different way of broadcast of data - BT uses radio waves on frequency 2,4 GHz. It doesn`t use nothing common with infra-red!!!

Bluetooth is quicker (1MB/s), it works on larger distances (10 m when use 1mW), which is dearer and more unfailing.

Only one is the same function is to connect things. I don`t see any other links between IrDA & BT.

More can read on http://www.bluetooth.com/

Who told u that BT uses IR port???? :confused2

i think its brand specific.

i tried to send a file from a 3650 (nokia) to a gx-10 (sharp).

and it didn't work too.

10x for the explains michau, nobody told me that BT uses te IR port I just assumed so, after looking at T68i.

I have 7210 (allmost the same). Well, we have stupid phones, becouse they can recieve or send stuff via IR only from PC to phone with Nokia PC Suite. You can find it on www.nokia.com

let me clarify everything for you guys... u can only send files via IR on the series 60 nokias and the 6220 and 6200.. all the series 40 phones have a locked IR port which means that they can only recieve from a pc..
anyway.. nokia is changing that and soon all there phones will be able to send files via IR...
If U Think u can send files via IR on a 5100, 6100, 6610, 7250, 7250i .. then show us how!!!

usualy you have to set this option up with your service provider that is to send and recieve multimedia products problem is both phones have to have this activated for the tranmisiion to occur. i had the same proble with my 6100 and it turned out my mate didnt have his activated for such a service.

I don't think the provider has anything to do with a locked IR port. That's a hardware thing, not some kind of setting.

i still think you should check this out with your provider. I could be wrong though. worth a try though eh????

trust me... there is no way of sending files through IR on a 6100... i had it and tried to do that.. all you can do is send organiser notes..
