after serving in the Army and retiring can one live comfortably off retirement or would it be difficult?
thanks
generally speaking

I retired as an E-6 in the Navy.I also get full medical benefits, comisarry and exchange privleges. I had a cancer removed at a local VA hospital that didn't cost a thing. So, while the benefits aren't always monetary, they do add up. What killed me, was an ex wife and 3 kids. I get 1/3 of my retirement and they get the rest. I'm going back into court next year and turn off the child support because the 3rd child will be 18 and no longer in school. It comes out to about $1650 a month other wise. You can live comfortably if you don't buy a new car every 3 years and stay in your house instead of buying a new one every 10 years. It's possible and still have some money for trips etc.

well if you are an officer and remain in a rank for two years after promotion such as promoted to Major...stay major for two years...then yeah you can retire comfortably...retiring not an officer...find yourself another job
