Just wanted to clarify that the 3 months offer we had before was 3 months of the chosen package.

The current promotion is 2 months of ALL BEV CHANNELS for free

To give you an idea of the kind of promo we offer:

-50% off for the first 6 months or 50% off any purchased system

Before that we offered:
-3 months free (which comes to the same)

We also offered in the past:
-20$ off for the first 12 months if you have more than 68$ programming or 10$ off for the first 12 months if you have a programming between 47$ and 68$

There really was no one major thing, but rather a conglomerate of everything. I've been reading all the posts about BEV for the past 6+ months, and the happy-factor seems to be declining. I've spoken to different CSR's at Bells' toll-free number and even though I ask the same questions, I get different answers..... they want a 2-year contract for service and there is so much unsurity with the mpeg4 debate.....sigh........ and their HD package with PVR dual tuner etc etc would end up locking me into a $100 a month package for 2 years regardless.
The local CRRSTV cable company has no contract (well not exactly true, they make you sign a 3-month contract but with what you pay for the 6416, I'd be stupid to cancel and lose that kinda $$). All the research I've done also suggests that the 6414 is less inherently plagued with bugs and ghosts than Bell's 9200/9220 dual-tuner PVR.
Now, for those naysayers who will say "WEll, you bought your DC box upfront and that was a whole lotta money and that can factor into price.....", my response is that I'd rather pay the whole dollar hit upfront, STILL get my 3-YEAR WARRANTY from Motorola (not a flimsy 1-year warranty), and have lower monthly cost!!!!
ALL THIS and no MULTI-TIERED plans because "I'll cancel if I don't get a better price on this blah blah blah" !! As far as I am concerned, why can't I call BEV and say "I am willing to pay this for that, so you give it to me!" Thats what they are doing when they are trying to retain customers who want to cancel!!! Unfair to the rest of the people who silently pay the asking price.

I hope this makes sense, ARR, and thanks for asking!! This forum for the most part is an amazing source of useful info! :D

Agent, do you think that 2 months free including "all" the channels is more compelling than 3 months free including HD Extra? Both lock the customer in for 24 months. It's a nice perk, to be sure, to be able to explore "400" channels, but if I had a choice I'd probably never watch (nor want to pay for) CBC Dawson Creek.

I'm going to subscribe because the channel and hardware mix suits my needs. It's much more compelling to offer me a free two months of HD channels not in my package than 10 feeds of TQS network French language channels. At least with the HD channels, when they get turned off, I'll know the value of what I'm missing and call up to add them back.

Anyway, our correspondent is going to wait another month. So have your managers sharpen their pencils and find a great summer deal for him!

That sounds like a pretty independent assessment of things, dead on I dare say.
Hope you didn't my me taking a little artistic license on your minor slip on the cable box you bought.

Why can't they give theme deals to all clients then tnes that are going to our retention departement?

Because a client that goes to our retetion departement is AN EXISTNG CLIENT who therefore is providing money for the compagny

A retention offer only last a few months...we can not sign a client at that price for a full term

AAR, not at all!! It was pretty funny!! Actually had me going for a few seconds!!!

Agent ExpressVu, New money, Old MOney, money is money, is it not?? Why the hell should I pay for someone else's service, is my point!! If my neighbour is getting Sat @$50 month and getting the same service as I am paying @$70 a month, there just seems something very unfair there!! SAME SERVICE, SAME PAY, is my point!!;)

BEV would not be so happy if a customer cancelled service, threw up an FTA box on the line, and continued to get all the same channels would they?? OR better yet, subscribed to BASICS (so giving them SOME money) but yet recieved the full meal deal thru FTA box!! BEV's stance on that issue I am sure would be exactly the opposite, yes! Or would they say "hell, he's paying for basics, lets just give him the buffett and hope to keep SOME money!"

WHO'S YER DADDY NOW!!! ;)
