Portfolio question for freelance photo editing?

So I'm starting to freelance my photo editing services. Let's say that I have permission from photographer to edit photos and/or client owns all rights to the photos...if I was using the images in my portfolio (after obtaining permission), do I need to credit the photographer in my portfolio?
