I'm not sure if she fits into the image of a rich and/or popular girl. In the first episode of D/P, her house didn't look like it was rich, but rather just a regular house. Her mother is famous for winning a lot of ribbons and such, but I'm not sure if that would make her that much popular. She does wear a lot of dresses, but I also don't see how that would make her popular or rich. That seems like a typical aspect that writers generally use for a character with a so-called "girly" personality trait. I also don't think that I would call conceited and that she expects to get what she wants. She's definitely determined to get what she wants, but she actually works on it, which most popular/rich girls don't do. She's proud of the work that she's done, but not to the point, I think anyway, of being vain.
Anyway, Courtney Gripling from As Told By Ginger is one of the few popular girls in cartoons that I thought was generally nice to okay. She was definitely shallow and vain, but she wasn't completely rude to everyone that came her way. Unlike her friend Miranda who did that. At least Miranda also showed moments of kindness in different points in the series as well.
