Popular Films You Don't Like

The Godfather trilogy. I found it hard to sit through even one film in the trilogy. I just watched it is parts over the period of a month. I was that bored with the film. I do like other films in the gangster/crime genre such as Goodfellas, Scarface, Casino etc but I didn't like Godfather.

Yeah I'll say The Matrix as well. I thought it was an absolute pile of crap! As for the so called "amazing special effects," what the hell was so amazing about them?

Didn't bother to watch the second and third!

Forrest Gump - hated it, patronising rubbish - probably my all time most hated film
Philadelphia - depressing subject that I suppose denzel lifted, but not enough to ever watch it all the way through
Matrix - 2 & 3 overrated tat, though liked original (the second time i watched it, didn't 'get' it the first time - must have fallen asleep)
Titanic
The English Patient - the cast was enough for me to say - absolutely no way
American Beauty just left me perplexed

While I like the LOTR series of films I can understand people who do not.

I love all that kind of fantasy and examples are so few that I learned long ago to enjoy what was on offer rather than await a really decent example of the genre.

Point is the LOTR books are so well respected, as is Tolkien himself, that any serious diversion either in the characters or storyline.
Which might have been done to pace the movie differently would have caused uproar amongst die hard Tolkienites "hmm is that a word" guess it is now lol.

I suspect the lotr and the hobbit are not as good as I and many others think they are, but no one wants to say that because they are used to make the case that scifi and fantasy do not have to be trashy but can be respectable literature.

Lord of the Ring (bore)
Harry Potter (hurry up and die)
Fight Club (is that it? whoopee do)
Fargo (stupid accent wasn't funny from the first sentance, should have been shot in the face)
Hot Fuzz (not funny)
Shawshank (rhyming slang for how crap this is)

You can have them. I highly doubt you've watched them more than once, at least not in full....perhaps falling asleep partly!? The extended editions are even more painful and boring. I'm just glad that all these other sensible people are here admitting the truth that LOTR is quite boring and not all that great.

I think you are also somewhat exaggerating your own enjoyment for these films and confusing it with the hype and overrated nature of the movies when they came out. They are very slow paced and its 90% "ramble on", just like the Led Zeppelin song which is about LOTR!

I think you're right. The films were made for fans of the books. Personally I'm not into the books so I didn't think the films were that enjoyable, but I could appreciate that they must be great for fans of the books.

Moulin Rouge and any thing with Nicole Kidman trying to be sexy.
ET overdone and overlong
Terminater 3 dreadful rehash
XXX pumped up rubbish
Rocky hated all the Rocky and Rambo films sorry
Jaws I know it's a classic and I have tried to like it but its dull.
American Beauty just left me perplexed too.
Gladiator overlong, boring and Russell Crowe
The Devil Wears Prada not original and not funny
Lost in Translation wish it would just get lost. pretentious rubbish
Dirty Dancing stupid, very badly acted and overlong
Top Gun and Cocktail etc all films of this type during the 80s. Mean't to be adult but badly plotted, acted and horrible pop music inserted all the way through so you can't hear whats going on. All Tom Cruise films in this period are bad. (maybe not Legend -not good but not to bad)

There are many others. The one with George Clooney in space and his dead wife. Don't even know the title. That was one of the worst films I had ever seen yet it was hailed as a masterpiece

Star Wars/Sci Fi
Moulin Rouge
Horror Movies
Most Teenage frat movies, once you have seen one, you have seen em all.
Fiddler on the Roof
