does the culture fostered in mainstream society (tv, music, schools, etc) direct people to live ungodly lives and lead them to follow the path of destruction unknowingly?

Enter through the narrow gate; for the gate is wide and the road broad that leads to destruction, and those who enter through it are many.
How narrow the gate and constricted the road that leads to life. And those who find it are few.
-matthew 7 13-14

that is of course if hell was real
and that is of course if people blindly do what they are told by the media

No one goes to Hell unknowingly. One who knows Jesus, and rejects the message of God, thus rejecting God, accepts the Devil and sin. They will go to Hell. One's who've never heard about the Gospels have never had the chance to reject God. You are correct about the gate being narrow. People professing Christian belief will reflect that belief in their lives. I believe there will be many good people in Hell. They profess their Belief but never make the committment to Christ even one second prior to death because they do not really understand the meaning of belief. Prettty sad. Perhaps you can gently tell someone the real meaning of Belief without insulting them. Thats what being a missionary is all about. There are non believer's all around you.

Do your parents and/or church direct you to live a "godly" life and follow the path to eternal sunshine unknowingly?

A big part of destruction in this world has been a result of religious disputes.

No one is forcing you to pay attention to popular culture. If you don't like TV, turn it off. If you don't like your kid's school, home school him. Or send him to a private religious school. The music stores have aisle upon aisle of classical, jazz, instrumental and Christian music. If books bother you, read your bible.

That's the beauty of our society: Choices. You can choose or not choose to indulge in the "path of destruction."

Provided you remember your rejection of adult entertainments is not a license to restrict others' right to enjoy them. What other people read, watch, listen to or enjoy is none of your business.

Nope - everyone has a choice. And, as Rush once sang, "if you choose not to decide you still have made a choice".
