About an hour ago I twisted my knee and my kneecap dislocated and I fell down, but it immediately popped back in. However it hurts a lot, is swelling, and is sending shooting pains up my thigh and down my shin. I'm elevating and icing it right now, but is this normal pain? I know a lot of people's knees pop out all the time, so will it heal on it's own? Should I get a brace? Or does it sound like I tore something inside it? Sorry for all of the questions, but like I said my knees have never popped out or been injured before. I don't know what a reasonable way to treat this type of injury is.
