Poltergeist Remake

Please tell me that they aren't actually planning a remake!?!?

I'm so sick of Hollywood remaking (or should that be "raping") films just to make an easy bit of money. Originality please!

what's the point.. without Carol-Anne ( was her name JoBeth Williams in real life ????) in it and also the orig was scriped by Spielberg and directed by Tobe Hooper so how can they improve on that.

Unfortunately as long as people check these out to see how they compare with the orig they will still be made by Hollywood

Carol-Anne was played by Heather O' Rourke, who sadly died at the age of 12 before re-shoots on Poltergeist 3 could be completed (hence the way you never see her face in the final few minutes of the film).

JoBeth Williams played the mother.

i had a feeling I was wrong. Thanks for correcting me.

The sequals were bad enough so you thought they would put them off a remake

Agggggggggg:mad::mad:

Why do they keep doing this remake crap?
Do we really need another failure 'Wicker Man', 'The Fog' or 'Halloween'?
Has modern day horror had its day? It sure looks that way.

Again a movie that doesnt need a remake, getting one.

Actually truth be told I'm not a big fan of any of the movies but I do see the excellent work involved in the original I don't see how it can be improved or done much differently.

The only horror remake I'm looking forward too is Hellraiser which I feel has tons of potential and possibilities to be had.

Unfortunately this is why we are still getting remakes. It's the people who think I liked the orig I wonder how the remake is. Even if they only get it on DVD these films still end up making some money for the studios. I've been guilty of this too.

Until we all ignore these completely we will still be bombarded with remakes and sequels.

The the new star wars trilogy. Tons more CGI and better effects and they made millions but overall they were still poor compared to the originals

I see where your coming from but some remakes can be excellent (Fly,Thing) and Hellraiser (2009) has signed 2 very good directors to create their own version.
Hellraiser to me has dated badly and never reached it's full potential. It's not to me a Fog,Halloween ect it can be much more imaginative, visual and horrifying.

I don't think it's a re-make. I think it's just another Poltergeist film. I read it's in development as 'Poltergeist: In the Shadows'. Due out in 2009.

True ;) I remember looking forward to the remake of Time Machine but that was complete tripe

Have always loved the original Poltergeist - I'd be OK with a sequel but not a remake, please.

From an extremely reliable source ---> CONFIRMED: 'Poltergeist' Remake at Mandate/MGM

It's happening. That's that, I'm not going to waste my time complaining about it. There is nothing I or anybody else can do about it.

The original will never go away. I can watch it whenever I wish. As for this remake, it's going to be the casting of Carol Anne that makes, or breaks the film. Providing they get that right, I'll take anything over Poltergeist III. I'd rather have a suitable different actress playing the part and a better film to boot. Even if it is a remake.

Poltergeist is my all time favourite film. I probably know more about its history then anyone already posted here. I'd say my knowledge of Poltergeist and its sequels is scarier then the film itself. ;)
