The Matrix movies, hands down--or at least the first two of them.
Sorry. I was just blown away by the presentation and the introduction of a new, challenging genre of cinema--the Futuristic, Thinking Man's Kung-Fu Flick. ^__^ It is a pity though that the movies ran out of steam on the third film.
It's even a bigger pity that nobody's had any luck with doing better movies in this vein, in this new genre, since. Either folks make it too much of an action film, or they go too cerebral and make it a character piece....
When really it was the artful balance of thoughtfulness and whoopass that won me over. ^_^ Well....ok, that and women in exceedingly tight and shiny clothes, but hey. *lol*
