POLL: The GED(General Education Diploma) whats your opinion?

so i made a really big mistake in my life, and made some bad decisions.
when i was in the 10th grade i dropped out and moved to a different country with a boyfriend.
and i never went back to school to finish my education.
now i'm stuck with no career and working just a little above minimum wage.
i really wanna go back to school and finish my education,
i moved back to canada now and i only have 10 credits yet you need 30 to gain a high school diploma.
i'm interested in journalism/advertising/marketing/public relations/ fashion merchandising/ entrepreneurship/ movie producing/directing/music video production and directing/magazine editing.
careers in that field.

should i just get a GED
and how do people look at the GED.
would i be able to go to college with a GED and pursue one of the listed careers. or should i just work at getting 20 CREDITS( it will take long)
i'm 19 years old now.

what should i do?

also what program should i take that will help me go into any of those careers.
i mean can i take one program and have open doors into all of them.

please help and thanks in advance
 
You should really go back and get your credits for HighSchool..and get your Diploma because it will look better on a resume, Especially for your interested field of careers.

If you get the GED, its pretty much equivalent...but HS Diploma will definitely look better.. It won't take too long to get your diploma.. I'm sure the place where you were thinking about getting your GED will also have classes for you to take if you are interested in getting your HS Diploma instead.

Also, You should start looking at Colleges and talking to Counselors..they can help you with what programs you should take for your fields of interest.

People might look down on you just because you have your GED, but the truth is the GED is basically the same thing as a regular diploma.

Theres nothing wrong with it, I would say getting it because if you want to get a job like the ones you listed, i would advise getting the GED. You never know, some people look into what you did in high school, not all of them but some.
