Poll Results/Discussion Thread

My opinion is better than everyone else's and this list is crap because it's not what you'd find in a shite magazine it's based off of what people here actually listen to.

Thanks for the move.

I didn't mean "Which decade has the best music" by the way, I meant like:
Best song of the 80's, or worst band of the 90's or something.

Edit: don't the "best" polls create the same problems as the "worst" polls? people need to understand it's YOUR worst and not THE worst. I mean, I dislike the majority of "Emo". It doesn't mean it's the worst, or even bad, it just means I don't like it. You may hate "Stoner Rock", Who Cares? It's just a poll!

Well I don't think so. I mean I hear your argument, but I think the list is disappointing in maybe this reason.

In no particular order:

1. Black Sabbath, for all they created, we're largely one dimensional. I think that for every "changes" there were several "war pigs." not that those weren't great songs, because they were, but Sabbath seemed to like where they were (in my opinion) and stuck there.

2. As much as I think Elliott Smith makes terrible music (to date I like one song), he is well liked and I certainly respect him for bridging what I would call (and therefore not up for debate) the emo kiRAB to singer/songwriters. I feel they have a better chance of developing good taste with smith than they would with whatever trendy, transnational fad group they liked before.*

3. The Fall seems more out of place than the rest. If smith and bright eyes were shoved in my the interest groups of the young, than the Fall got rammed in there by the old (or those who want to seem old of which we have many). I don't know how well The Fall represents rab.

4. Bright Eyes is becoming a great act outside of his insipid fan girl base, and he's losing that ridiculous "whine." I think it shows we have a degree of taste, albeit pretentious and trendy.

5. Bowie speaks for himself.

*Yes I realize that you'd like to argue with this. And the reason is because I tend to make statements based on emotional response and not "fact" (read: prevailing conventional wisdom). Because I don't march in lock step with the cool kiRAB, it would be obvious I'm open to attack with the statements I make. Say what you want, you'll argue with yourself on this one. Welcome to Music Banter, I'm the Big3.

Heh, think i was in a bad mood. Anyways point is i wasn't exactly making a huge complaint and then i get stick for it. It wasn't even a complaint, this is a thread to discuss the poll results, wether or not they're what we expected and so on, so i'm entirely entitled in saying the outcome wasn't what i was expecting with having to put up with bollocks from the other merabers. Right-track was the final five what you were hoping for?

Throughout doing the polls people kept complaining when some band like Arcade Fire or something beat some classic rock band like Deep Purple. And yes people have been bitching about Smith/Oberst, just look at the last poll thread to see it. I'm tired of arguing it, its getting ridiculous people just need to accept the fact theirs fans of them on these boarRAB.

And i like doing the polls I don't think they're pointless, I just think doing separate ones for favorite and best is pointless, which is what i was going to do but changed my mind as of now, i'd like other opinions on it though.

I'd agree with that , I never thought in a million years they'd end up in 4rd place.

(And I didn't actually vote for them in the final round I went with Bowie)

Its been decided by swim and I the next two rounRAB of polls will be.

Best band Boo Boo hates and in a more non-mocking way best band urban hates.

We need more good threaRAB and more active merabers. This board is booooring.

The Darkness need to win the best debut album poll. Seriously.
