Like physicists, biologists and chemists? It takes eight years out of high-school to receive a phD, and only then are you eligible enough to do the more advanced research of your field. Most scientists are usually have a great debt to pay-off due to their studies, and paying them 60k for the rest of their career without any promotions or raises only scares more aspiring scientists away. While those who are not the brightest in terms of IQ went and got an MBA or a JD, working in a law firm as general council or a banking firm doing tedious work and contributing unimportant work to society, will be making 5x as much as the scientist who earned their phD after 10 years of solid work. What about the basketball players who shoot a ball through a hoop, and earn 10 million dollars a year? They make more than 100 scientists will ever earn in their life-time, do you agree with this? Aren't scientists underpaid?
