POLL: Do you think parents should read their teens text messages ?
I'm curious if you think it's a invasion of privacy or not, also especially when the parents take the cell phone away as part of a punishment.

I'm asking this because my parents especially my dad have no trust in me right now because of some bad things I've done recently, I'm grounded until NOVEMBER with no cell phone and they took my car keys away.
Here is why my dad doesn't trust me
I got a speeding ticket for 55 in 35 zone, and I also had blunts in the car to make it worse, and what is even worse is that my dad is a sergeant on of our local police force, and he'll KILL me when he finds out because I'm already in trouble . The officer that stopped me recognized me and he is also my dad's friend, HELP and give me HONEST advice or anything. Can I hide the ticket from him ? then he wouldn't of known and I tried talking my way out of the ticket but it obviously didn't work.My dad was the one that CAUSED the shitty situation.I am sixteen years old.
I REALLY can't tell him about this considering I'm already GROUNDED UNTIL NOVEMBER. FML I'm in NY and it was in his jurisdiction
I'm already grounded because my mom and him went out of town and I threw a party while they were gone and my dad told me that Alex our family friend who is also my dad's co-worker would be checking up on me and I thought it was a threat but he really did.
It is true why would I ask for advice otherwise ?
