Poll: Do you believe the spirit of the law and the letter of the law are the same?

I don't. A few years back I read about a lady who was charged with exposing her genitalia in public. She successfully argued that this was impossible since female genitalia are internal. Obviously the spirit of the law was to ban public indecency, but the letter of the law was so caught up in legal correctness that it lost sight of anatomical correctness.

BQ: Can you think of any other humourous examples? (Let's stick to humour rather than dwelling on severe injustices.)
