They all play well, but without sould. None of there stuff makes me tingle, I think they pretty much sound the same. When you listen to Beck or Clapton, you realise just how empty those listed guitarists really are
Satriani has a great deal of songwriting ability. Sure, a lot of his stuff is wankage but he's got a nice mix overall.

A few of my favorites (I'd post full links but don't have enough posts...)
I don't enjoy G3 all that much, mainly because I need more variation in music. With that said I'm a huge fan of John Petrucci, not only because he's able to play fast and in many different styles, but also because I really like his songwriting, his riRAB, his melodies.
The middle part of Damage Control is one of my favourite musical segments ever! It's crazy how he managed to put so many awesome things into a single song.
(I like Satriani as a person and guitarist too, but his songs aren't that appealing to me.)
so why are you on the favorite G3 guitarist forum if you dont like this style of guitar playing or guitarists? you probably dont even know who these guys are.
But as for my fave: Paul Gilbert is the coolest. Yngwie obviously is the best (he is the most technically skilled guitarist ever). Petrucci is a close second to Yngwie and obviously is in the best band of all of them and writes the best stuff. But my fave has to go to the master himself who started it all, Mr Satriani
I just feel absolutely no emotion in any of that, and I know some of you will disagree, but if I want to instrumental stuff I'll listen to Mogwai or something.
