Passengers on a rush-hour Ottawa bus yelled “Stop! Stop!” at their driver as the double-decker vehicle went through a rail crossing and struck a passing Via Rail train outside an Ottawa station, killing six people.
The crash also injured 30 people, including 11 who remain in critical condition. It occurred at about 8:50 a.m. Wednesday as Montreal-Ottawa-Toronto Via train no. 51 approached the Fallowfield Station on Woodroffe Road, in the suburb of Barrhaven.
