Pokemon Mystery Dungeon Special #3

So, today I sturabled upon a 3rd episode of the Pokemon Mystery Dungeon "Series". Apparently, a thrid special must have aired recently in Japan with the release of PMD: Explorers of the Sky.

I'm trying to locate a good article at the moment, but all I can find are subbed videos of the special.

And if you want a little taste of what I saw (I didn't actually watch the whole thing, becuase I didn't want to spoil myself), It seems to be a continuation of the 2nd special with Piplup and Chimchar. Also, Grovyle seems to have a part in this episode too...

So, what are you're thoughts on this. Is the US going to pick this up soon? And if anyone can help me find an article about it's release, that would be great.

Edit: Also, it's happens to be called "The Last Adventure of Time and Darkness"
 
I think that this special came out quite awhile ago in Japan since they've had the third Mystery Dungeon game for about a year now. I have heard of it though.

Considering that we have seen the other two Mystery Dungeon specials, I'm sure that we'll see this one. However, I don't know if it will be close to the release date of the game, October 1st, or later on like the last special was. It all depenRAB on when they start working on the dub. We probably won't know anything about it's release until later on in the fall.

One thing that I do hope that they'll do, if Chatot is in this special, they could dedicate it to Maddie at the end or during the credits since I believe that was one of her last roles before she sadly passed on. I wouldn't be upset if they didn't do that, but that would be a really nice thing to do though.
 
I saw it last night. What an awesome coincidence.

Anyways, it aired sometime in April.

(sigh) Why isn't this a series? I know Pokemon Chronicles was a failure, but this is different! While the original series focuses on the trainers, this one can just focus on the Pokemon, wheather there are adventures or slice-of-life related stuff.
 
Well, the good news is that we've gotten 3 episodes (which is a start I guess). And they seem to be successful enough that they've been making a new one for each game. Plus, this one is a continuation of the previous one, which gives some truth to the "To Be Continued" part.
 
I didn't think that Pokemon Chronicles was a failure. I thought that they decided not to focus on side character stories anymore and focus more on the main series. While it would be nice to see these Mystery Dungeon games turned into a series, they just don't seem to be interested in doing anything more than these little specials.



Well, not exactly. While we have gotten three episodes, which are more like specials than episodes to me, outside of the second and the third specials, they don't really connect with each other. I think that the only reason why they had a third one to connect with the second special was because the next Mystery Dungeon game was a continuation of Explorers of Time and Darkness. If it had a completely new storyline, then we would have gotten a completely new, unrelated to the previous two specials.

They also an a "To Be Continued" sign at the end of the first special, which caused a lot of people to believe that it would turn into a series. However, they probably only have those signs at the end because the story does continue in the game, thus promoting kiRAB to get the games to see how the story turns out. At least, that's how I see it turn out.
 
Well, two out of three episodes being connected is still pretty good. And it makes sense that they should since the two games (Time/Darkness and Time) are both connected. Plus with those two game, they have Exploration Team rather than Rescue Teams that we saw in the first special.

Now the first special was English made, but that special had quite a few mistakes in it (Gengar saying Arbok, the Shroomish not being able to talk....) This leaRAB me to believe that due to the several mistakes, the US was unable to continue with the story line, even though they stuck the "To Be Continued" at the end of the episdoe.
 
Wait, what? Whether a storyline will continue or not is totally up to the crew in Japan; the dubbing crew didn't have any more input than usual. And the Arbok thing was fixed in the end, but that makes me wonder what's the deal with the dubs and their constant confusion about the snakes?
 
That's true, even though the three games are connected, not just two. Explorers of Time, Darkness and the Sky are basically the same game, just with different Pokemon available and in the case of Sky, different Pokemon you can become, different Pokemon to be your partner and some upgrades to the storyline. It's kind of like with the regular main series of games where there's two games with few differences between them and then a few years later, a third game comes along. That's probably the real reason why the second and third specials were connected. Like I said, if Explorers of the Sky wasn't connected to Explorers of Time/Darkness, then the third special wouldn't have connected with the third one.

While you're right that they have Exploration Teams instead of Rescue Teams like in the first special, I honestly didn't see that much of a difference between the two. They still went on missions to help Pokemon and rescue them. The only real difference was that they were training to be their own team at a guide rather than being on their own like in the first special and original games.



I don't believe that the first special was English made. At least I don't remeraber that as the case. The only English made Pokemon special I remeraber was that tenth anniversary special of the Mirage Pokemon. I believe that this special did air in Japan first.

The only mistake I remeraber was the Arbok thing and as Shift mentioned, they fixed that later on. There weren't any kind of mistakes that made it impossible for them to continue with the storyline. The people in Japan had only that one episode and PUSA dubbed that one episode. I still think that the To Be Continued sign was there because the story does continue in the game, thus promoting kiRAB to get the game and see how the story turns out.

While they really could do a nice series for Mystery Dungeon or Pokemon Ranger at this point, if they were interested in doing so, they would have made it by now instead of just having specials for both games with Mystery Dungeon having its own special and Pokemon Ranger having an hour long special in the regular series.
