Points of View - Autumn 2010 series

PMSL! Oh, that is perfect! I'll be tweeting that just before next Sunday's show (I'll credit you for the line, of course)

I'd post my twitter username here, but it's mostly me ranting about the BBC which I... always do here :D

Christ, they did that once to advertise the Oscars, in the middle of a film. Which film? Schindler's List!

Previously, on BBC3's opening night, they did a mid-programme plug for 'Pure 24' during the episode of 24 that was on at the time. Absolutely disgraceful.

There was speculation that the BBC3 incident was a mistake, but it was slotted in at the precise moment that the characters had stopped talking. And if that was a mistake, then I'm Peter North!

"Points of View: Putting a face to the voices you hate" ;)

And just after the programme ended, they showed that weather trailer the guy had just been complaining about. Cheeky twits (misprint).

They really can't do anything right in your obviously biased eyes can they?

Viewer: You're not showing many horror films
BBC: Okay. Here's a season of them.

Okay, you may be right in that it was only mentioned because they have such a season coming up, but at least it does mean that they are, contrarty to your oft-stated opinion, actually responding to comments they receive.

You can't deny it now as you have just proved the point.

Wow I never knew Anne Robinson used to do it! I see the start of that clip mentioned an "angry response to a new programme". Will watch the full clip tomorrow, it might be amusing :D

Yes, I thought that was ironic too. :)

It was another damp squib of a show. But I live in hope.

Yet another complaint about music in a programme. Will they ever learn?

The whole concept of Points of View is wrong, why should some shoutly individuals dictate to everyone else?

Do the people who write in actually think they are the voice of the people? That their likes/dislikes are the standard?

Apparently.

If the BBC give in to the Daily Mail it's in the wrong, if it gives in to another similar bunch of shoutly individuals on POV then it's doing the right thing?

I 'm not trying to accuse you of naivety, but think about it for a moment.

They only air complaints for which they can usually trot on a "suit" (with no doubt at least a week or maybe more to prepare their answers) to say "we're right and the viewers wrong."

They are completely "even handed" over letters, including an even number of those of "mild criticism and of effusive praise."

I suppose it's the luck of the draw that the complainants
letters, are often read out by someone who sound as if they are in their dotage.

It's been like that for over twenty years.

How many times over those years, have they said they'll sort out the problem with over-loud, unnecessary, or inappropriate music and the same topic comes up, time and time again on here?

Today, they demonstrated an example of loud music, made a fatuous excuse for it and said they'll sort it, but unfortunately many of the BBC programme makers won't take any notice of the "suits," never have.

Don't hold your breath!

There is nothing wrong with the concept of PoV, it is the delivery that is wrong. Currently it seems nothing more than a 20 minute advert for BBC programmes rather than a honest feedback for crticism and praise.

Delusions of grandeur. I always look for that in a stalker.

Still, good that you admit your default setting is "disagreement/able". Not really news to me but I

The most fascinating thing about PoV is watching Ann Robinson's face. I didn't realise it was actually possible to speak more or less clearly literally without moving a muscle.

For all those considering Botox - look, and reconsider.
