Is there something tangible that you can point to and describe—an event or events in our past, a person or group of people, a feeling or idea—that might help explain why America has always been considered unique by the outside world and exceptional by its own citizens? What do you think about this issue or idea? How might you argue this to someone new to the country or someone critical of our government, culture, or society?
