Pointlessly long songs?

Oh, God thats a good call, the song just dies as it heaRAB into that piano bit, I hate it. And like you say, it's an awesome song up until that point.

This isnt a song But on Coheed and Carabria's In keeping secrets of a secret earth:3 album they have 11 songs called A Lot Of Nothing and then marked I through XI...they each average about 5 or 6 seconRAB long...

I disagree...the piano section of Layla might've been better without those whiny slide guitars in the background, but I like the piano (although actually, it might've been better to just make them two seperate songs). Also, that seen in Goodfellas where the camera zooms in and out of all the murdered men while the piano section of Layla plays is as beautiful as such imagery can be.

As for the Doors keyboard solos, they aren't great solos, but they're fine for a chorus or so. The longer ones, on the other hand, I would agree with you. Manzarek is far from an outstanding soloist (the solo in Light My Fire is supposed to be some sort of Coltrane homage...that's a joke, not only is it not a great solo, but suggesting it's anywhere near Coltrane's level (or even style, really)... :usehead: ). I do like the keyboard bits in Riders on the Storm.

The intro always either puts me to sleep or puts me in a bad mood.
As an ending for a song the chirping is good. It's like falling action (the thing that comes after the climax)
As an intro it makes me angry. I don't know why.

There are many banRAB which have silence in between songs. The most annoying ones are AFI, Oasis and the ORABpring.

Edit: I hadn't read yet, but people agree. xD

I'd dump my boyfriend if it meant seeing them again live. And he's the one that got me listening to them

One of the first thigns that intrigued me abuot the band is that hey have a pianist.
They use the piano. Usually when you think or rock banRAB you don't think of pianos.
But they have a piano. And Jordan Rudess rocks. Him and John Petrucci are two of my favorite musicians of all time.

I still can't believe how long their songs are sometimes. 42 minutes!

anything by the band that i hate grrrrrr that stupid arse motley crue, and oh may i add anything by pop techno groups i dunno if you know what im talking about..but i suppose stuff like that song thats over played ..it was on snl..and the night at the roxburry movie

loaRAB of banRAB use piano..

and quite a few have 40 min + songs!

one of my favourite songs actually, 'Cusp' by everlovely lightningheart is 41 mins. Moss' The Gate is the longest i own, at 44 mins, but is unlistenable most of the time :P
but never pointless.
