pointless nude scenes

saw a film earlier in the week starring tim robbins called "Noise" that had a scene with him in a room with two women.

one was naked and one wasn't, and the one that wasn't was complaining about her .. um .. lady .. parts ..

they both looked at each other's .. parts .. and ended up complimenting each other !

Now I know gentleman's law number 37 states that no female nudity in films is ever pointless, but it really didn't add anything to the overall story.

two others i can think of - halle berry in 'Swordfish' and the scene in 'Open Water'.

Anyone think of any more ??

Head of the family. There are 2 scenes where characters are discussing what the next part of their plan is, while going at it rampantly.

Disgusting.

There is a really explicit scene in The Brown Bunny. It shows Chloe Sevigny giving head. I haven't actually seen the film so I don't exactly know the context of the scene within the film and don't know whether it is warranted or not.
I've seen the scene and read a bit about it but still don't know whether the explicity or the scene in general is required.

There are other genres of films (sometimes called art house - but i'm not up on all the lingo) which are basically porn with a decent plot and acting. 9 Songs is a good example. Again, haven't actually seen the film so I don't know if they could have taken the softcore route.

In the film.

It's to indicate how corrupted Beowulf's become; Grendel was the result of the King shagging Grendel's mother (not that he let that out), and the torch was passed to Beowulf when he succumbed to her charms - not least when the creature (Beowulf's son) later in the film goes marauding. So at the end of the film when she pops up out of the ocean it's left in the air as to whether Brendan Gleeson (forgot the name of his character) will start the whole thing over again or whether he'll tell her to piss off.

Pointless nude scenes .

All male nude scenes seem pointless , to me , although all the nude scenes involving women seem ok . Funny that :)

;)

On a similar scene. WTF was the need for the male full frontal scene in Forgetting Sarah Marshall? Shock value is all I can presume.

And all we got in return was a photograph (probably faked) of Mila Kunis' titties.

Really, these scenes should just be in the DVD extras (or online ;))

It means that either you can watch a decent movie without it being interrupted by a pointless nude scene
or
you can just watch the pointless nude scene without having to sit through a crappy movie :D

When Halle Berry got her buns out in Swordfish. There was absolutely no reason for it other than to give an otherwise average film a selling point. Not that I was complaining when I saw them mind.

Pointless nude scene? How about scenes where people supposedly have sex and the actress is still wearing her underwear? Which is the most stupid?
