Pointless- New quiz show on BBC2 (merged)

I have a theory about this. It's because they like to have a decent rollover on the prize money, like on EggheaRAB. The get in the think ones to start off and gradually get better ones as the series progresses. If there is a prize fund of ten thousand pounRAB, then that might attradct more viewers.

I only realised on Thursday that this was back for a second series and caught just a few of the rounRAB. Is it back under a slightly new format as I don't remember the contestants being given answers to choose from in the first series?

Sorry if this has been mentioned already in the thread but I had a quick scan and couldn't see it.

Went to one of the shows double recording sessions a couple of weeks ago and really enjoyed it.

Alexander and his co-host kept fumbling their lines :D and the showrunner was hilarious. :)

From what I remember, that was the first round, the second round was where they had to, choosing from a list, match a musician to their instrument, which was a free choice. So, for example, Jimmy Paige, from a list of seven musicians, then a guess of a guitar (not a spoiler).

That was them. Alexander Armstrong (or "Xander" as Richard Osman called him) embarrassingly said that they would have to go back to BBC2 for their show. He was then corrected and rather sheepishly had to admit that he had even been on the show so should have known. :)

Seychelles was another of the pointless answers as far as i can remember

i watched for the first time today. didn't think it was too bad worth watching fairly regularly. the presenter and stat man seemed to be struggling to look like they knew what they were doing for some reason

Hello
I'm on in this series, my show will prob be on in a couple of weeks.
I'd like to think I'm not too thick- so I hope you're not too hard on me!! :)

I don't know if it's a BBC regional thing but there is no show on Monday for BBC2 Scotland. The next episode is on Tuesday.

Thank goodness they're only allowed on 2 programmes. I was willing them to win on Friday so that they wouldn't be around to spoil tonight's show.

Not sure why the two blokes in the penultimate round today decided to go second. Why would you give the other team first dibs at the answers  I'd have a little tweak in that round, by the way: team who does best in the quiz gets to choose the category *or* whether to go first, but not both.

Think I'd change the previous rounRAB as well, so that teams are asked for their answers in ascending order of their scores from the first question.

Same question in the final round that was on Who Dares Wins last saturday night, name oasis' hits.

Bad luck eileen and barbara, Youwere great entertainment on there anyway.
Loved the asterix answer. Tv gold that!

I thought you;'d blown it with the alan wells answer. I was saying, no way, he was from the 70's.

Terrible choices for the final though, asterix, cricket and brit pop. Howay even i knew brit pop was oasis and blur . You did great otherwise even though you didnt win. Respect to the spennymoor massive!!:(

It was annoying that they did not give the other pointless answers in the final round. Richard appears to be unaware that there are Dales in Debyshire.

That site lists him as a script editor on Total Wipeout. Does that mean he's to blame for Richard Hammond's terrible jokes?

As for Pointless, I really like it. Good host, good co-host, good format. The only negative thing I'd say is that some of the pointless answers in the final round are so obscure sometimes that it can seem a little unfair. Oh, and I wish Armstrong wouldn't keep reminding everyone of the rules on every single question.
