Pointless- New quiz show on BBC2 (merged)

It was pretty obvious, though, that that was what the question for the category of TV entrepreneurs would be and so easy to avoid if you don't watch the show. Clearly, as they got answers worth only 1 point and 2 points, the finalists did know the series.

With its repeat screening, Dragon's Den can attract up to 5m viewers, so I can see it being any more obscure than international flags, not when you're looking for the least obvious answers, whatever the question might be.

We were in the audience of yesterdays episode (Friday) and will also be in Monday's as the recording was a double shoot.

The studio audience was only about 2/3 full for the first episode which took over 2 hours to film. Because of this, the fact that the audience chairs were very uncomfortable and gave you a numb a**e after about 20 minutes and the fact that there were no refreshments available (despite the tickets saying otherwise) quite a number of the audience left between shooting the first and second episode. We were sat to the right and they asked most of the left side audience to sit on the right side to make it look fuller for the audience shots.

Basically the audience shots are filmed between the end of the main episode filming and the retakes with the help of the warm up man.

The eagle eyed viewers will notice Mondays audience being the same as Fridays and thus wearing the same clothes.

Filming started at 4.30pm and was due to finish at 5.30. Even though the first episode took till gone 4.30 to shoot we were still out by 5.45. The final episode (to be shown Tuesday) was recorded that evening and the audience for that shoot were there and ready before we had even left.

I am most envious- did you win? Quiz shows are addictive- I'd love to go on more.

Today's final round category was nasty- I would have no clue on Kate Winslett films, but then again I would've gone for International Flags. Someone hurry up and chose it!

What did CJ change his name from, or is it a secret hidden in the depths of time?

When we were being pre-screened for the auditions, we were told that the producers loved the banter between Alexander and Richard and wanted to build on it in this series.

It rolls over to the start of the next series cos that's what happened at the end of series 1.

Keeping Mum.

I've seen that film (and enjoyed it) but I couldn't for the life of me remember what the title was. Seeing it come up as a pointless, with all that money to be won, would have been soooooo painful.

Having watched the previous series we knew that we had to prepare for stuff like this (mostly because we were absolutely terrible at pop culture to begin with). It's been really frustrating watching the series back now because on virtually every show other than the two we were on, the first quesiton was something we'd prepared for, and would've got 2 pointless answers on!

I'm not sure about it being dumbed down from last series. I suppose it probably has mostly because of the new format. Multiple choice massively benefits people who don't know the subject, and the head to head features lots of rounRAB where everyone knows all the answers, and whilst there is some strategy there it's often just whoever goes first (see Six Nations teams for us).

IIRC, by Friday or somewhere next week there should be a winner. The double recording session I went to four weeks ago, there were double winners - back to back. One of the questions in the final round is on Girls Aloud Top 20 Singles and another on Sports Personality of the Year winners.

It isn't directly on the coast, its coast is Long Island Sound, an estuary.

The answers were so dreadfully bad today, embarrassing.

As the programme about the Pope is on till 7.30, it's a pity they didn't just start it at 5.15 instead of cancelling Pointless and showing Escape to the Country earlier :mad::mad:

Thanks. I don't know why I thought JFK had been a VP, I'd scanned the list as part of revising for the show, but like I said, we focused on the earlier ones because all the questions like that on the previous series had been "since 1900", which was a bit of a tactical error...

FYI...Alexander and Richard have just been on Breakfast News and the new series starts next Monday (30th August). Usual time of 4.30pm on BBC2.

Why is quark an obvious wrong answer? Unless you had done A level physics, or had an interest in quantum mechanics, it's highly doubtful the average person even knows exactly what a quark is or cares. When I was at school and did A level physics, it wasn't even mentioned in the textbooks then.
