Point Break

Hi there.
Does anybody else love this film?
I think that this is probably one of my all time favourite mindless films for sitting and vegging out to.
Ok so I admit that Keanu Reeve's acting skills leave a lot to be desired in this film, but it doesn't really detract from it in any way.
Patrick Swayze is lovely in this film and you even get a cameo from Anthony Keidis from the Chilli peppers.
It just makes a great all round action flick I think.
Opinions? Love it or hate it?

Also anyone noticed the distinct similarity between this and the fast and the furious?
Undercover cop befrienRAB thieves.
Falls in love with one of the gang so to speak.
Becomes part of the gang unwittingly.
Lets the bad guy go in the end. Love the end of this film! :D

It is one of my hubbie's favourite films. I don't mind it and did comment when we saw Fast and the Furious, how similar it was to Point Break.

There are similarities but Point Break is far superior. I didn't think Keanu let Swayze go at the end of this, he allowed him to go ride the perfect wave because they both accepted this was a pure moment in nature and time but the trip would kill him or bring him straight back to the Fed's. This in much more philosophical that The Fast And The Furious' cop becomes enamoured of charismatic criminal and forgets what his job is message.

I think it is a top film. Yeah the acting aint that great, but the action and the story are brilliant.

But it nothing compares to the finest surf movie "Big Wednesday". :D

Yep - great film. One of my favourite ever films is another Kathryn Bigelow directed film: Near Dark, and Strange Days isn't half bad either. And if you needed proof of the talent of Kathryn Bigelow, in Point Break she coaxes good performances out of two of HollywooRAB worst actors: Keanu Reeves and Patrick Swayzee :D

"Point Break" has one of the best chase sequences ever, with Keanu chasing one of the robbers (Patrick Swayze presumably but do we ever find out? Can't remember), and the cameraman chasing Keanu whilst leaping over fences. I usually hate too much hand held camera nonsense, but it works amazingly well here.

And he doesn't let him go at the end. He knows that it's suicide, but basically allows him to choose death with dignity (doing what he loves) over jail. That's not letting him go.

Dave

ok I understand that he didn't exactly "let him go"
I just meant that he didn't arrest him and haul his ass off to jail.

Anyway. I'm sure he paddled to New Zealand! :p
