I have a feeling that poetry is overrated, anyone with an iq higher then 70 can do it. I think it's more of a past time or hobby rather than a talent or skill.

Sure, anyone can create poetry, but it takes intelligence and depth of thought to create poetry that is considered good. Practice, and skill also. I'd say that being able to write poetry is a talent, because not anyone can create good poetry.

Some of my favorite poets were from the 17th century, like Alexander Pope (Eloisa to Abelard is amazing), but modern poetry isn't any less creative, intelligent, and and/or moving (e.g. T.S. Elliot).

Guys you have made me change my ways, I am now a fan of lots of poets including, but not limited to: Edgar Allen Poe, Allen Ginsberg, Saul Williams, Henry Rollins and Jim Morrison. I was wrong to mock you, please recommend me some more poetry to read.

a hall of dimly lit busts
of men worth future's fuss
perhaps as well a mention
of a lady who had helped
but her features on a bust
would normally seem absurd
but Mary bit her piece and
she paid her worth now her
face is bleak and stately
sitting in a hall of cool air
and broken glass a place i
go to wash my face rekindle
life and wipe my arse

got a question for you guys, if you were doing a compilation of your poetry, would you order it chronologically, thematically, or stylistically?

Definitely not chronologically. Probably stylistically. Thematically would work, but for me, I'd get bored reading several poems in a row that all had the same theme.

I've done this a couple of times, but I did none of those. I just put my best one first, then placed what I thought would work/sound best right after it and just kept doing that.

but do you think that having it stylistcally could get equally boring? because then you might end up with like 5 poems that although might be talking about different things, have the same structure etc? i was also leaning towarRAB stylistically too but im still not entirely convinced, which is why i was asking
