Poems/short stories about obsession?

..specifically, obsession that ends negatively, where a character's life or others' lives are changed for the worse.
It's for an assignment and I am NOT asking for anyone to "do my homework for me", I'm asking for suggestions because it's difficult to have something in mind and then pinpoint a specific piece of literature that is related.
One of my pieces is Frankenstein, if that helps at all. I'm not interested in other novels, just short things.

the tell tale heart by edgar allen poe. a man staying at a boarding house is obsessed with the caretakers oddly shaped eye. he calls a vulture eye. every night he spends hours creeping to stare at the man while he sleeps till he finally loses it and kills him and burys him under the floor boards till the sound of the mans heart beats so loudly he pulls him up right in front of the police and rots in jail. creepy and traumatizing.
