Plz tell me i have another option besides buying a cricket branded tri-band phone

Hello Everyone,

I lost my cricket phone, it was a txtm8 phone which i did not like. I live in a AWS area (DC/VA) which requires a tri-band phone. I understand Sprint and VZ do not and cannot participate in that AWS band, and since i live in a "tri-band phone required" area, cricket will not activate a dual band phone for me. :help:

I see some posts about activating a dual band phone in another location and just using it in the AWS / Tri band area but i do not want to risk any roaming charges, nor can i afford to purchase a phone that possibly may not work in my area. (I had poor reception with the triband phone!)

I really wish i was able to utilize a non-cricket branded phone as their selection very limited. I miss having a phone that can lock automatically, send text messages bigger than 150 characters, real internet browser, bluetooth menu while on a call, call waiting / three way calling menu while on a call, tethering, a real phone, a smarter phone...

Even if you got a "flashed" phone to work, u will not have net/mms. If these are features you care about, I would definitely get a triband phone unfortunately.

i may be able to sacrifice the unlimited internet which i barely use for a smarter phone. i almost never user MMS, but am a text

If i don't care about these what can i do?

or go with a different carrier, there are many pre-paid service phone that are not through Cricket, Boost, etc.. Try H20 or Simple Wireless which are GSM phones. Alot more varieties in selection of phones and much cheaper than Cricket

Hi ichellelives,

My name is Ryan and I work in partnership with Cricket. Sorry to hear about the recent loss of your Cricket phone. It's true, users are able to flash other carriers phones to operate on the Cricket network, but as you have mentioned, dual band phones will not operate in your tri-band area. Are you currently enrolled in our phone protection program? If so, you may report your lost phone to http://www.thesignal.com/. More details found on our site as well - http://www.mycricket.com/support/search/lost+phone

If you are currently unhappy with our phone selection, throughout the summer, we'll be introducing new and improved cell phone devices and also introducing two new smartphones later this year - www.mycricket.com/smartphones

Best,
Ryan on behalf of Cricket
