games...? PLZ HELP! Im doing debates at school and my team is against banning violent video games and i need two points why video games should not be banned. Please help me and thank you so much for your time.

here is why video games should not be banned:
1:It is said that violent is not nearly defined clearly enough. Every thing from GTA to doom 3 to zelda to mario have violent aspects. Should you bann crash team racing because you can shoot missiles at other cars?
2: The poll was related to a game called 'bully'. In which the aim was bully your class mates. Violence was not the issue in that game. It was the fact that you bully people and bullying is wrong. There are very few violent things you can do in a school.
3: Its been said before. Its one of those stale unnecisary things people have said many times before.
My personal opinion:
The reason video games are so popular is because they enable people to do things they couldnt or wouldnt do in real life. Using that logic a person who plays hl2 is less likely to shoot people.
95% of the violence in video games is completely neccesary to save the world/yourself/loved ones or blowing up robots or evil demons. Which is not bad.
The amount video games make people smarter is phonomenal. Educational ones for a start. Problem solving in adventure games. Reaction times in action. Commerece in RPGS. Storylines often having meanings like good books and movies.
Video games are really enjoyable.

I think that violent video games shouldn't be banned because if we can show things like this in movies that are rated PG-13 and on the history channel, and on the NEWS, well why can't kids have fun while playing these types of games? it's not really doing any harm to anyone they're just having fun.

1. Not all video games are violent. There are many that are not, while also entertaining. Some of them are violent, but some of them are also enjoyable and benefiting. Some are actually proven to improve problem-solving skills and critical thinking.
2. There are so many violent things shown on TV. I was watching a movie just yesterday that had killing and shooting and other violent ideas. Certain channels on T.V. have violent things, which is why parents put locks on channels and many kids just skip them. Similarly, video games. Yes, there are some violent video games. But why can't kids ignore those types of games and purchase non voilent ones? Why can't parents stop kids? Video games are also a form of entertainment, and they deserve to be enjoyed as much as the TV ipod cellphone etc.
These are my two reasons! HOPE I HELPED!
