An elderly client of mine has old fashioned mixer taps on his bath which are connected to a lever which you turn to make the water come out of the shower head. The shower bit is broken and the new shower pipes etc do not fit his old pre war thread? (His words - I don't know what he's talking about) He hopes there is something like an adaptor that would go onto the mixer bit and then allow him to connect a new shower?
It is very had to find adaptors for these things nowadays, the change over from british to metric fittings happened a long time ago and it is no longer worthwhile to manufacture or stock them. Your friend might try a salvage yard..I have pasted the web address of one below.
I don't think there's anything you can buy off the shelf, but assuming the fitting is metal and not some sort of bakelite/plastic, a competent plumber should be able to come up with a solution.
