A little while back I watched a Romatic Comedy that had a funny story about a hippo part way through it. I remember that the story about the hippo made me laugh at the time but I cant remember it or the film (nor the story)
The film is about a man who is very very unlucky however the film starts with him ending up marriad to a good looking lady and them both lying on the beach.
They are n the beach and somehow the lady enRAB up going to the boat of one of the people who wander the beach selling stuff and when on the boat enRAB up sleeping with the beachseller (in a slight copy of Shirley Valentine).
The man is blind to what is happening and thinks that the beachseller is simply a friend and the story continues . . .
Until eventually the man realises that his new wife is not faithfull and he has been unlucky again . . . and this is when the beachseller tells the story of the 'hippopotomuse', told in a mock empathetic way to the luckless man.
They are standing next to the beechseller's boat on the beach and the story is told in broken English.
I can't remember much else but wonder if it rings a bell with any of your lot. I don't watch many films so I am sure that this one is not obscure.
If you know the film please e-mail me the title to [email protected]
Thanks in advance
