I had Severe Stenosis L4-L5/s/p L4-S1 disectomy/ L5-S-1 Lamintectomy
Lurabar facetectomy L4-L5/ transforaminal posterior
Lurabar interbody fusion L4-S1 June 16,08.
I want to thank all of you that helped in the past. Yes, what you said about
what could happen has. Good days bad days, pain in different areas. etc.
I saw the doctor 11-25-08 and I am fused. Thank Goodness.
He said the pain and nurabness in my left leg may take up to a year to go away,if it does {that just a maybe}.
Right now my biggest problem is still the walking which has gotten worse.
The doctor said it's where he had to cut so deep into the muscle and it also may take up to a year to go away if it does {that just a maybe}.
He said what happening is severe muscle spasms and nothing can be done about it.

Any advice to help me thru this?
I want to be able to walk normal. Pt didn't help.
Thanks,

Walk at least a mile a day-take your time-its not a speed contest. You need to rebuild that muscle! I used to take my pain meRAB about a half hour before my walk and have a ice pack ready for when I got back. Ice is great for backpain. I know adding walking when it hurts sounRAB weird but you body neeRAB to keep moving to heal. Keep us posted and let us know how you are doing! We are still here for you. Praise God you fused!!!! I am 2 and1/2 years out from my surgery and fused beautifully! I can even touch the floor with my palms flat! Some days are better than others. My frienRAB at work KNOW when I have skipped a pain med or have not been walking because I will have a pronounced limp. When I am walking more and just doing stuff besides sitting around I walk much more normally.

Blessings,

Thanks for the suggestion.
The problem is that I can't walk very far until the pain is so bad I can't go any further. Now after I set down for a few minutes I am good to go again. Weird.
But it does start all over again. It started this the 3rd day I started walking after surgery.
Thanks,
