Please tell me it isn't true

But who would want to see it?

Ho hum I suppose this is the type of product you get when accountants and market researches run the film industry.

Have you never seen the original? No offence to Keira Knightley, but she's not in the same league as Audrey Hepburn.

Why can't some things be left alone? My Fair Lady is a true classic. If some suit wants a vehicle for Ms Knightley then why not commission an original script or look at some of the Broadway/West end hit musicals (that haven't been filmed already or based on a movie) and see if one could be adapted for the big screen. It can be done, Moulin Rouge and Chicago are two excellent examples of this.

And where do the remakes stop, Gone with the Wind? Star Wars? The Godfather?

All these films stand the test of time for a reason, they were perfect and/or groundbreaking people still enjoy them today and they continue to reach new audiences.

I hope it doesn't go ahead. It would be an insult to Rex Harrison and Audrey Hepburn if it did!

Why would they want to re-make it anyway? The original is a classic and is still loved worldwide and is still shown on television etc. It's not like it's been forgotten.

But even if they made a dozen remakes, one of them a porno, the original would still be there unchanged, so what's the problem? Folks who wanted to see it would, and those that wouldn't, wouldn't. Same as always, in fact.
