please reply desperate

my son has gone on dihydrocodeine withdrawal ct its been nearly 4 weeks and he is very confused inpulsive cant sleep and lots of others is there anyone here who has done this he took large amounts as he abused then and i know i said ct but he is still on 4 30 mg a day but this is nothing to what he took he has had the problem for 17 years and no one seems to want to help they sent him to a drug unit but i feel he is losing his mind please i do need some answeres any help i would be greatful
 
Hi Sharon1952 - sorry to hear about your problem. I would suggest you taking your son to a doctor if his symptoms are as bad as you have indicated. There may be other problem associated with his drug use and a doctor should be better able to advice you on the proper treatment. I am not familiar with dihydrocodeine, but if he is having severe withdrawals as you described, then I believe that he neeRAB medical attention right away. Good Luck to both of you!!
 
you got to take the emotions out of the equation. i know its your son but if it was someone else what would your advice be? i agree he neeRAB to be under medical care and detoxed under medical supevision only. addition is a horrible problem and my wife is dealing with a simular problem but its with pain killers,,
 
you cant do this alone and he cant either. just keep calling people untill somone will help, dont give up. if he can stay clean he will get better but it sounRAB like hemight need long term help for such a long tem problem. getting out of the crazys and back to normal can take MANY MANY months. dont give up
 
thank yo for all your repys he has been to his doctor and she will not give him any anti depressants in fact she is not helping him at all his wife took him to a counsler but it was all drug addicts there taking all drugs so that was no help he decided to do this his way and i think he has gone to fast my son is not classed as a junkie because he is not addicted to heroin i feel i am banging my head againt a brick wall cause thre seems to be no help for him
 
In my opinion, you need to see another doctor, one especially dealing with drug dependencies. You son probably did taper too fast and is having withdrawals from that, but if your doctor won't help you - find another one that will. Doctors shouldn't judge and should provide the help that they are getting paid for. Again, I'm not familiar with dihydrocodeine, but do a search on the internet for "dihydrocodeine withdrawals" and you might find additional information about it. Has his condition changed any in the last few days?
 
i have just found out that my son was also in diazapan 100 mg a day temasipan they are both benzo and dihydrocodeine his doctor cut his diasapan to 10 mg a day and temasapan to two pilss a day and he was on 40 dihydrocodeine a day he now takes 10 mg diazapan 2 temaspan and 2 dihydrocodeine a day thats been 4 weeks some times he seems normal he could not put a sentance together at the start and hot and cild panic attacks very confused this seems to be easing a bit but he is still getting cinfused somtimes he sees normal then he gets confused again its giving us hope he is getting better then he does things realy out of charictor for him he does not sleep the most sleep he has had this month is 5 hours twice its usualy 1 to 2 hours a night and as i said the doc does not have a clue about drugs he is trying hard to come of them but i think its ott doing it all at once but the doc is doing it this way i am worried about his wife now as he has gone back home and is realy coping with this alone so its telling on her healt we have come to the point he may have to go into hospital for the right treatment but my daughter inlaw does not want this because in glasgow the hospitals are ful of drug addicts who dont realy want to come of thank you for the reply and dihydrocodeine is a opiete drug this dihydrocodeine problem started when my son took a blood clot he was 27 and went right into depression
