Good evening ladies and gentlemen, adjudicator, opposition team and chairperson.
As second speaker, I will be covering the moral aspects for tonight’s debate of that Australia should allow women to fight in the front line of armed combat.
Ok, so when was the last time somebody told you, you can’t do this or that because of your gender. Was it a sport? A particular outing? Or maybe it’s a job you or a person you know of was once interested in but then changed their minds by the many opinions around them saying no you’re a girl or no, you’re a boy – that’s not right for you. Judging someone based on gender is rather brainless. The affirmative team believes that Australia should allow women to fight in the front line of armed combat.
Ladies and gentlemen we can say, truthfully, that men naturally would be considered to be of superior strength, skill, etc, and this is most likely true. This however, doesn't say that women do not have capabilities and strengths of their own (and no, I do not refer to washing, ironing and shopping),
Women have been known to have many physical skills. Take the Olympic Games for example, sure, we may not see the worlds fastest woman running equal speed to the worlds fastest man, but what we CAN say is that she would easily outrun billions of other men in the world. Looking now at a battlefield, the same thing can be said. Sure, there can be a man (or men) that are greater fighters out there, but there are woman who will be dangerously effective on the front line.
No one really does have a right to say whether a woman can or cannot fight in armed combat, let alone the front line. Women have rights, as they are human, who are we to deny them the rights and privileges that they deserve? If a woman is capable of handling herself, as well as providing the best for her country on the front line of armed combat, why deny that right and benefit?
You cannot judge someone based on gender. You just cannot.
Yet alone generalizing the capabilities because of gender groups and such. These things are all based on the individual.
and ladies and gentlemen I must clear any misconceptions – we are not talking about housewives. So let that be taken out of your minds. We are talking about professionally trained and supported types. Just like any other men that are on battle.. I mean you cant just take any man with no training. It’s actually silly to say any man is stronger than any woman because there you are just generalizing and most likely thinking of housewives going into battle.. there you are just wrong. Australia is meant to integrate and worship equality – but hey – where is it for those who decline and are against this topic. It is about time that Australia stopped and thought about this. actions speak louder than words. How can people just sit there and say “right - no woman cannot fight in the front line of armed combat. No way!” if you think about it – this sounds like a stereotype …. Um.. from way back in the old days where woman did housework only. But look around today, we have women police officers, woman in the marines, woman, and even women fire fighters. All these woman have proved that they are fantastic workers. You may think there not physically strong - how can they be; you may think. But remember. These woman are physically and mentally trained with great capabilities. It is not gender that matters. It’s the individual and what it offers. And by the way – how do you think they got the job? Just because they wanted to? No! They went through everything man went through just like equals.
With all these woman doing these jobs people thought only men can do in the old days – this land is becoming better with equality. Maybe not totally equal just yet, but more equal than ever before. So let us keep and integrating to bring forth more equality and peace. Let us not think about the weaknesses of the other gender but instead think about what a possible success we could bring and what strengths we could have with woman and men uniting as one to make an army with such strong skill, strength and mind. Of course men and woman have their differences – but together combined we could have super capabilities mixing physical and mental together. Strength is nothing without mind as with mind is anything without strength. Once these two powers are put together – it is then when you have success and true power – don’t you think? Australia should allow women to fight in the front line of armed combat.
Thank you.
