Ok I bought a used ford 351w engine, it has 60,000 miles and I think it has been sitting for a few years. My problem is that it will not start. The engine cranks but does not start. I had a small flame come out of the carb, but it was a slow burning flame, not a fast backfire kind of flame. I was thinking it might be my 4 year old edelbrock 1406 carb. Do these carbs have a ageing problems? or just in need of a rebuild? Or does my timing need to be adjusted? If so, should i turn the distributor housing clockwise or counter clockwise? btw the timing all lines up fine, and I have a good coil, new spark plug wires, new rotor and cap, new pickup coil. Thank you for your time and answers?
