Hello its hard to say how to find out if he has a tendosy of lying about it, but herion is bad all in its self. I'm new and havn't started suboxone yet, I start on the 21st of this month. Try talking to him and letting him know your concern for him and listen to him without judjing him. I can talk to husband so much easier when I feel like he listening and understanding. If you have to they have even home tests he can take if he wants to prove to you he not using herion. I have takeing him them fo myr husband back when I got off cocain, because I had lied about my sddiction for so long and he busted me. I haven't done cocain in yrs., but if he suspected me I would drop a piss test in a heart beat. Good Luck, I wish you the best!
