Hi guys,

For 13 days i have had a pain in my right side and under my belly button.
kind of a throbbing pain coming and going!
I had been constpated for 5 days, i went to the doc cause i was worried it was my appendix, he said it was not and said he will get xrays and it showed i had alot of feices in there! and on the 6th day i had a bowel movement, i did 2 solids and then all turned on me and turned to dioreah, this is when severe stomach cramps kicked in, and had nausea, i went to the hospital and he also said it was not my appendix.
Said it could have been the build up and a viral infection.
I then went to the doc again as i still thought it was my appendix, they took blood and i got the test results back and it said my white blood cell cout was 3.8, apparently it would be well over 10 if it was appendicitis.
Its the 13th day and i still have the pains coming and going some staying longer them others etc. Im still freaked thinking it appendicitis.

My mum said that it sounded like IBS, My pop,Mum,Sister,Brother, And more of my family suffer from IBS,

What does this sound like to anyone? IBS or Appendicitis?

And would of i known by now if it was appendicitis?

Thanks everyone

It's been 13 days, and your pain is roughly the same level (coming and going, but not getting drastically worse as the days pass, right?) and you have no fever, and an x-ray has been done.

Appendicitis usually progresses much faster than that, from fine to terribly sick in just a few days. If you'd had appendicitis 13 days ago, you would almost certainly be dead by now, so I think your symptoms are due to something else.

If your family members have IBS, that might be what's going on here. Or it could be something else. For the moment, I would try home care, dietary changes, etc. If that doesn't work, or if you get worse, go back to the doctor then.

Here's a good way to tell if it is your appendix. Stand up on your toes and drop dwon onto your heels, fast. If that causes extreme pain so bad that you double up on the floor, then I would consider appendix. This is the test that they did on my son when he was in the emgency room WITH APPENDEX. The doc sais that test is a sure fire way to tell. If you drop down fast to your heels and it doesn't cause you to fall to the floor in pain then it ain't your appendix.

It sounds like it's not your problem. And why do you want it to be your appendix so bad? Its not a great surgery to have to have...
