With vexation I scoff, for young lovers
Are painted lovely, cracked never be their hearts.
They bask in what perfect love uncovers
But faint, young, love because of mere lust starts.
Why do my eyes translate from blue to green?
Envy is an evil internal foe
But its controlling powers are unseen
Because lust is superficial, I know.
My cheeks, pink, rosy, and stained by salt tears
Are for: the boys I loved but never told,
The lost admiration over the years,
And the rejection that’s turned my heart cold.
Depthless love is for the brash and young
Envy and confusion are tasted by tongue.

All I’m saying is that I know loving someone for only their looks is superficial and that youth “in love” tend to only love each other’s appearances, yet for some reason that perplexes me, I am still envious of those who are young and in superficial love.

Is this sonnet using iambic pentameter correctly???? PLEASE HELPP!
