Please help! Really worried

Hi everyone, I am new to this site.
I am a 22 year old female, just looking for some advise and/or reassurance. I found a painless swollen lymph node under my left armpit 2 weeks ago. It is about 1.5cm in size and is moveable. It is also not visible from the outside. I rang and spoke to a doctor when I found this, as I googled my symptoms which terrified me! The doctor told me not too worry, leave it alone and check it in 2 weeks time and if it's still there go in and see her. I wasn't very good at leaving it alone as I have been so worried about it (not sure if this could prevent it returning to it's normal size)
Anyway yesterday was 2 weeks and it's still there so I went to the doctors. The doctor gave me a breast examination and said it feels ok and she is not particullarly worried about it. She told me again to check in 2 weeks as it should go down. If still there in 2 weeks, she will look into it further. I cannot stop worrying about it, and spend hours searching for different possibilites on the internet. I have no other symptoms, except occaisionslly I have a twitching feeling (which I can only describe as a baby moving) in my lower stomache. It is not at all painfull, and mainly happens at night. Could this maybe be my spleen swelling?
Everyone I know tells me I am being overly paranoid, which I do think I suffer from slight health anxiety, which has got worse since I've had my son, who is nearly 9 months. I just can't bear the thought of leaving him, and know I prob wouldn't have been as worried before.
Anyway, I'm sorry for the long post! Just wanted to make sure I didn't miss anything out. Any help or advise would be much appreciated. Thankyou for reading.

Hey ali

I know exactly how you feel. Back in June I found a small, painless lump in my left armpit. I thought the worse because I did some research online about it. I went to the doctor who did a through exam and was told that it was a swollen sweat gland under my arm. He also referred to it as kind of a cyst. He told me to not shave or use deoderiant for at least a week. He suggested using warm compresses to shrink the lump. I was given antibiotics incase it started to hurt or become red because that meant an infection. He didn't seem to concerned about it.

If your doctor doesn't seem to concerned then there is nothing to be to concerned about. Maybe try the steps that my doctor gave me to see if it shrinks.

I know all about having an anxiety over your health and the worst thing you can do is look into it heavily on the internet. If you want to do some research try typing in "swollen sweat gland in armpit" and see if you match those symptoms (that is what I did after going to the doctor and felt so much better).

Hope you feel better

Hi, thankyou so much for your reply.
I did look up swollen sweat gland which eased my mind a little. I have also been using a warm flannel under my armpit, with no shaving or deodrant!
It's just the doctor who examined me said it was a swollen lymph node, maybe form an infection that I didn't even realise. The thing worrying me though is that it is painless. Aren't swollen lymph nodes due to infection supposed to be painless? Did your lump hurt at all? and how long did it last?

Hey ali

I am glad you are at ease.

I do know that my "lump" was not painful. When my doctor was examining me he touched it and moved it around and I felt nothing. After a few days it started to itch, but I am not sure if that was the swollen gland or some other irritation.

I can not tell you how long mine took to heal because I don't remember. I had take the antibiotics that doctor prescribed me for something else and they cleared both up.

I don't want to scare you here. But please get a second opinion. It very well could be a swollen lymph node (I get those in other places) but, I had a co-worker that had cancer in the lymph nodes under her arm pit. I believe 6 out of 11 of her lymph nodes had cancer. She went through chemotherapy and just as she was in remission, they found a tumor on her brain. Not sure if the tumor had anything to do with the lymph nodes. Just please make sure you get a 2nd opinion if you're not comfortable with the first opinion.

Sorry if I scared you. More than likely it's nothing to be worried about. Just be precautious.

Good Luck!

COULD BE JUST A REACTION TO DEODORANT,MY FELLA HAS A PAINLESS LUMP IN HIS ARM PIT N RECKONS ITS HIS DEODORANT THATS CAUSING IT,OR COULD BE JUST A HARMLESS CYST,ID GET IT CHECKED 2 BE SAFE BUT IF IT MAKES YOU FEEL ANY BETTER IV A SMALL LUMP ON MY HEAD ABOUT THE SIZE OF A SMALL GRAPE N ITS HARD N I CAN MOVE IT BUT I HAVE IT AS LONG AS I CAN REMEMBER SO I PUT IT DOWN TO BEEN A HArmless cyst
